Missing
Slayed by a bear of very little brain -
his simple wisdom takes me by surprise.
A hole once sealed gapes open in my chest,
and all the world comes gushing out my eyes.
I didn't know that I still cared so much.
I thought that our goodbye had run its course.
The fear that maybe I had slipped your mind -
I didn't know t'would hit me with such force.
I know it's right to grasp for gratitude;
it's s'posed to fill an empty heart with light.
Perhaps if I knew you felt lucky too
then maybe my throat wouldn't feel so tight.
To ask, I know, would be a senseless plea.
But still I wonder - Do you think of me?
his simple wisdom takes me by surprise.
A hole once sealed gapes open in my chest,
and all the world comes gushing out my eyes.
I didn't know that I still cared so much.
I thought that our goodbye had run its course.
The fear that maybe I had slipped your mind -
I didn't know t'would hit me with such force.
I know it's right to grasp for gratitude;
it's s'posed to fill an empty heart with light.
Perhaps if I knew you felt lucky too
then maybe my throat wouldn't feel so tight.
To ask, I know, would be a senseless plea.
But still I wonder - Do you think of me?
