Stop the Bleeding
You hold my heart so delicately in your
Awaiting hands, promising to never hurt
Me. Who knew that opening the door
Would lead me straight to you. The dirt
Particles disintegrated as you also hold
My hand more firmly and I feel safe in
Your embrace. My secrets are folded
Up and you protect them. I crave skin
To skin contact, but what matters to
Me more is that you have stopped all
The bleeding before it gets way too
Messy or out of hand and before I fall
You pull me back. You did not realize
That you are my lifeline and you saved
Me from my shadows. With our eyes
On the horizon we watch the unpaved
Path turn into something worthwhile.
All it took was that one hug and smile.
Awaiting hands, promising to never hurt
Me. Who knew that opening the door
Would lead me straight to you. The dirt
Particles disintegrated as you also hold
My hand more firmly and I feel safe in
Your embrace. My secrets are folded
Up and you protect them. I crave skin
To skin contact, but what matters to
Me more is that you have stopped all
The bleeding before it gets way too
Messy or out of hand and before I fall
You pull me back. You did not realize
That you are my lifeline and you saved
Me from my shadows. With our eyes
On the horizon we watch the unpaved
Path turn into something worthwhile.
All it took was that one hug and smile.
