Heart shaped Pill
Sip me,
Drink me up.
Your vision blurs but you won’t stop.
You’ll go until you’re brimming because there’s a void you need to fill.
But I won’t refresh you,
I’ll go down hot and slow and stinging,
And you’ll start to sink in.
You’ll lay on the bed but not under the covers because you’ll be leaving all too soon.
You’re inarticulate so you just watch me spiral because it’s beautiful and catastrophic.
Dizzy from the madness,
Sick on the lust.
You want to cry because I’m nothing like her, she’s soft and endless and I’m cold and fleeting.
You came for warmth and comfort, you needed to be needed,
But I want to be bitten and when I hold you, it’s empty.
There is nothing for you here and you feel the immensity of the urge to leave crushing your lungs.
When I release you from my claws you hazily wish a goodbye and escape to the daylight,
Clutching to your sanity.
You drive home pensive and turn the volume higher to drown out the screams in your head.
You’ll feel settled once you can get home and lock the door behind you,
But when you get home and drop the keys on the counter you realize I kept a small piece of you,
A piece you never knew you had and you see now that you need it.
And now you want another hit.
Drink me up.
