October tenth

It is a dream,
Tulle, diamonds, soft petals trickling.
Pretty little words of affirmation.
Lemon cake and warm champagne,
Yellow dresses is a flurry.
Hearts pounding under elegant threads,
A flower pinned to the chest.
Melodies to bring us close,
Tears of gratitude to bring us closer.
All of it on display,
A grandiose presentation
Devoured by the eyes of our parallels.

But now you’re gone.
A vacancy on my left hand,
A museum in my mind,
A ghost in my heart.
The butterflies die, wings ripped to shreds
The sunflowers whither.
The songs run dry,
The vows are but ink bled on parchment.
Such a dream will never live
It was all but a dream.
