My Demon Inside
Everyday I wake up and dread
Today is the day you’ll meet my demon instead
I’ve kept him hidden for so long
But I can only be so strong
He lingers in the dark
Waiting for the moment to make his mark
He’s slowly taking over
An under-covered Rover
I try my hardest to keep him hidden
For a demon like him is completely forbidden
I keep reaching out for your hand
But you’ve had more than you can stand
So I take on this demon by myself
And like usual my feelings go on a shelf
It’s not that I don’t love you with all my heart
It’s inside I’ve been slowly falling apart
He’s taken over my head
I can’t even make it out of bed
He’s starting to take over my heart
And now I don’t even know where to start
I can’t keep fighting this battle with him
Every time I do he easily wins
So this time when I lay down to sleep
I pray the Lord my soul to keep
For you never knew what was at stake
But you will in the morning when I do not wake
Today is the day you’ll meet my demon instead
I’ve kept him hidden for so long
But I can only be so strong
He lingers in the dark
Waiting for the moment to make his mark
He’s slowly taking over
An under-covered Rover
I try my hardest to keep him hidden
For a demon like him is completely forbidden
I keep reaching out for your hand
But you’ve had more than you can stand
So I take on this demon by myself
And like usual my feelings go on a shelf
It’s not that I don’t love you with all my heart
It’s inside I’ve been slowly falling apart
He’s taken over my head
I can’t even make it out of bed
He’s starting to take over my heart
And now I don’t even know where to start
I can’t keep fighting this battle with him
Every time I do he easily wins
So this time when I lay down to sleep
I pray the Lord my soul to keep
For you never knew what was at stake
But you will in the morning when I do not wake
