Heart and Mind

The mind thinks. The heart feels.

Which one breaks?

The mind is presented with a situation, and analyses it from every angle, weighing up pro's, cons, advantages and disadvantages, every possible outcome of the decision made in response to that situation.

The heart shuts its eyes and points in the direction that feels right.

Who to listen to?

Do they even know what they're talking about?

The mind could be fragile, its logic not as sound as it thinks.

The heart could be scared, unwilling to deviate from familiarity.

Can one break the other?

Can the mind be broken from the sheer idiocy and complete non-logic of the hearts decision?

Or can the heart be broken from the cold, emotionless decision of the mind?

Several possible outcomes. All of them involve pain for at least one.

Maybe the mind is already breaking, because to a certain extent the mind needs the heart to either agree or disagree, and for some reason the heart can't help.

Maybe the heart is already broken, crushed by the inexorable weight of reason slowly suffocating it.

Maybe they're both broken.

They both want the same thing. They both want Happy. And both recognise that Happy won't arrive without Pain trying to screw things up. And no matter what the decision is, both Pain and Happy will have victories.

I think both the heart and mind are going crazy because neither wants to make that decision.

Quite frankly, neither do I.
