The Nectarine and The Peach
I spent the summer
Doing a boring job
The compensations were:
The nectarines
That were given me
Each day
That were perfect,
Cold, crisp, sweet
And full of juice.
The young woman
Who worked next to me.
She wore long light dresses
And minimal underwear.
Every time she stood up
The dress would cling
To the cleft
Of the peach.
And so
Between the
Nectarine and the peach
I knew that though
I was being tested
God still loved me.
