why      ( echo i i)

did he go
there when he knew
there is no chance
no
of her
being there

she'd told him
she won't be there
where he'd been meeting her
the place
of solace
for the past two years

he knew well too
the place
ain't the place
without her

coming to terms
is easier read than lived
perhaps
some conflicts
'tween heart mind and soul
tear one apart
till the tears depart
washing the real
from the surreal

and so did he shed
what he'd been carrying
behind the rib-cage
and 'tween the lids
at that place

the trees
the blades of grass
the witnesses
to the wetness

one man torn
three way(s)

and the echoes
reverberating
tween the valley's walls
of her name
what a shame
sanity
departs exactly when you need it the most

perhaps
spiritual phase for the body of clay
started well before time

in any case
the why
this why
perhaps will never
be answered
'cept by his own heart
