Young Love

There was a time you did not smile
And I wondered why
So finding the courage
I went to talk to you

It was awkward at first
Both of us extreamly shy
But we found out soon enough
Just how alike we were

Time went by and we became friends
I realized I yearned for something more
On that fateful day we talked more serious
And so started our journey as lovers

Young and naive but helplessly in love
You smiled for me and such a lovely smile you have
We enjoyed each others company
But distance had it's way of keeping us apart

Still we tried to make it all work
But no face to face contact was ruining us
We fought more and held grudges
Yet still we didn't want to let go

Fate was pulling us apart
As if to say our time was up
We needed to grow as people and think more of our future
Without the pressure of a relationship

I knew you had had enough
When you wouldn't open up like you use to
I tried all I could but we pushed each other away
And in the end, we just were not meant to be

The following months were hell for me
I couldn't let you go
I missed you so much
We had just stopped talking

Being such a big part of my life
And then nothing at all
It was heartbreaking and everyone assumed I was fine
No one cared that I was broken

Now, seeing you smile has brought on more tears
But I'll be okay just knowing you are doing fine
That smile may not be for me, though I wish it was
At least you are happy
