Major League Pessimist
If you’re happy and you know it clap your hands.
When I am wallowing in misery, I leave a hesitation mark on my mind.
All hope is lost and I am no longer the same man;
The colour has drained from my life and from my eyes.
I haven’t got anybody to leave behind;
I left them all to their flaws.
I left them all behind because of their flaws;
I left them behind to fall.
You keep asking me questions I have no way of answering.
You wouldn’t want to hear the truth if I told it to you.
You only believe in those you believe in.
So hang me out to dry, cast me aside
And I will walk off into the night safe in the knowledge we are through.
I want to let go of all I know,
But my fear of death leaves me to fear letting go.
I hate everything and am in need of being loved,
But that will never happen because I am still wallowing in the mud.
