A person's voice is so unique to that person to define them. We never really forget it, but not being heard anymore, it sounds of definite. I can feel the anguish in this write. The ultimate loss of someone dear happens when we lose the essence of the being: voice, scent, image. It's the principle of bereavement. You express it very well.
