I know what happens to the body
after death, it either rots or it burns,
and is there anything else, a soul, perhaps,
that might suffer much worse ..

That's always the scariest thought - that it gets worse (and eternally so) - the grip of old-time religion-ideology runs dep in the collective (un)-consciousness
I never could see the point....in worshipping an entity so insecure that it wanted to be worshipped in the first place.
And so many bad habits... jealousy... vengefulness...bullying
