On Moments in Time
If sand were to stop in the hourglass
a trickle of grain suspended in midair
I would not breathe a breath nor sigh a sigh
I would not kiss nor touch nor think nor care
thus statues we, close to suspended light
my life would be everlastingly complete
for in my moving life I have never
held close a woman so fine and crisp and sweet
I know our lives are very far apart
and how that distant time travels quickly past
you have your own life homeward I depart
romance reality break the hourglass
yet tarry, fall in love, grow old and die
with you, delightful you, I'd love to try.
