MUSINGS WHILE TRIMMING THE GRASS

Side yard, now overgrown
with tall grass, weeds, and volunteer trees.
Once a raised garden
wherein veggies were sown
Ne'er harvested but by hot Sun burned, Helios appeased.

Forlorn toy dump truck, rusted trampoline and hammock frames.
Relics of past happy moments now in vegetation's tangle hide.
Now mildewed basketball hoop
The witness to many PIG and HORSE games.
Simple, diverting pleasures that used to entice the kiddos outside

NaPo/GloPoWriMo poem 27. Missing the days when the kids were young and more willing to play outside.
