Tears & Blood
When you stole from me
It felt like you were ripping me in two
My lips twitching
But there was no audible sound
My heart tumbled out in front of you
Then you took a meat mallet
And beat my heart
Until it was paper thin
You cut your finger
On the edge of my paper heart
So out of anger, again
You tore it apart
Then with pieces of tape
You wrapped what you stole
With my paper heart
And sold my love
There I was with an empty chest
Eyes filled with tears
A painful mess
Dazed and in disbelief
Blankly you said “you should blame yourself”
As you shrugged me off
And laced your wallet
With tears and blood
This person, in front of me
Who’d carelessly rip me in two
How can that really,
Truly,
Be you?
It felt like you were ripping me in two
My lips twitching
But there was no audible sound
My heart tumbled out in front of you
Then you took a meat mallet
And beat my heart
Until it was paper thin
You cut your finger
On the edge of my paper heart
So out of anger, again
You tore it apart
Then with pieces of tape
You wrapped what you stole
With my paper heart
And sold my love
There I was with an empty chest
Eyes filled with tears
A painful mess
Dazed and in disbelief
Blankly you said “you should blame yourself”
As you shrugged me off
And laced your wallet
With tears and blood
This person, in front of me
Who’d carelessly rip me in two
How can that really,
Truly,
Be you?
