Pain
You put away the sharp cutlery
Brushed away the shards of glass
You wouldn’t let my prick my finger
And feel a little pain
You folded away the page corners
Took away the jagged hate
I never learnt to avoid the dangers
That brought me to want such easy pain
Bloodied knee while out playing
Don’t be stupid that never happened
You kept me away from harm’s tempting ways
Now it’s so delicious, delicious pain
I’ve got it’s scent I’m a pain addict
I crave it’s acrid taste to fill the empty space
I want to feel it and get carried away
Just let me have this simple pleasure!
I don’t need the sick connection
That you think I’m after or begging for
Pain such a freedom, a liberation
I just need the break with the numbness it creates
Don’t put it down because then I’d never understand your love.
