You are correct as to spreading hate and being tongue in cheek. In addition I was addressing how we are prone to 'rushing to judgment' before the facts are uncovered, e.g. the Smollett affair most recently, and subsequent fall out.

An unfortunate reality. My Buddhism teacher surprisingly taught me more about neuroscience than anything else. He says that the basal ganglia or lizard brain at the base of the brain holds our powerful instinctual drives and much of our autonomic function. One such function, our need to arrive at quick decisions to survive a hostile environment, has a side effect in cultural and social interaction. We are quick to judge and slow to change those opinions.
