bruised brain
my brain-
it must be speckled
with bruises and holes
scattered deep and wide
across it's soft
vulnerable surface
chipped edges
lining fragile veins
dents and valleys
marks and scars
full of broken, damaged parts
it's sure been knocked around
beaten up inside my head
it's been abused
but it's still alive
still bleeding
and still
fighting
if I could see its shape
outlined on a screen
I wonder
how disfigured would it be?

It would bear the marks of life, Rose. The scars of trusting, malformations of betrayal, and disfigured spheres of being. All of it means we've loved and experienced - and all of it means we can overcome!

Thanks so much for the encouragement! I appreciate it. NaPoWriMo really pushes me out of my comfort zone but I end up growing so much because of it
