Fishing
To the one who set the hook,
You baited it with beauty, ever so bright.
In an endless sea, it seemed to be the only glow.
When I took hold of it, it pierced my skin, and it only grew deeper.
You reeled me in; as we fought, we only grew closer.
And when I was close enough, you were still at sea.
Pulling me from the deep; far away from what I knew.
Upon release, we knew I’d go back to where I called home, but there are scars where you set your hook.
Sometimes, I wish you had kept me.
Fish on.
