Masks don't cover your eyes.
At the end of the day masks are pretty pointless
Don’t get caught up in the jewelled distortions
Fake pleasured plastic smiles, tantalising dry tear drops
They are all imagined and of my own confused creation
I know this is probably a hypocritical plea
You desire escapism, a place to dream
You think they will never reveal what is truly hidden beneath
For that is for the mask’s own pained beholder
But they only hold your façade when there is sick gain to be made
There is a shocking breach in the mask’s faulty contract
Because your eyes remain nakedly bare and uncovered
Eyes give you away to anyone with a wish to discover
A traitor that is of your own anatomy
They will not lie to protect your unsuspecting back
Remember then when my eyes bleed cold blood
That my mask allowed them to tell one too many close private realities
But until then I don’t like your gestures or intonations
It sounds like you are accusing me of some kind of high treason
Am I really the epitome of undying evil?
When all I did was keep from you my mind’s little seedling
But you would not let it lie
Neither would you give me the simple pleasure of thinking you dead
Buried in a cocoon of unyielding lead
You wouldn’t let me tie the mask’s bow tighter
Seal the seam between skin and bone
I never gave you reason to doubt
You should never have known I wore my secret mask.
