Time

Who has time?
Who holds time captive?
Tick-
Time can fly,
but can it land?
Tock-
Time can run out,
but can it run in?
Tick, Tock-
Who can time not escape from?
Who can command time?
Tock-
Time waits for no man.
Time waits for no woman.
Tick-
Time waits for no child,
nor for those
who have lived for a time.
Tock, Tick-
They say time will tell,
but time can not speak.
Who are they?
How do they know that time will tell?
For who can know time?
What can time know?
Nothing...
but to run away,
run by,
run out.
Ding, Ding, Ding, Ding, Ding, Ding, Ding, Ding, Ding, Ding, Ding, Ding,
Ding.

Author's Note
It's been a bit since I wrote this one, but, if I'm remembering correctly, this one was partially inspired by the novel Tom's Midnight Garden.

It's also a sequel to my poem Glass, (in my handwritten version of the poem I both dated them the same day and also explicitly titled this one "Time, a sequel to Glass.") This one is less depressing than Glass though, I think. Both jump off the springboard of experiences regarding missed opportunities and regret about forgetting things and not managing my time the way I'd wanted to, but it seems like with Glass I got through the worst of it and then wrote this one as a relatively upbeat, and a bit more abstract, take on the same idea.
All writing remains the property of the author. Don't use it for any purpose without their permission.
