A Governor's Daughter

- A Governor's Daughter -
A.k.a. "I Was a Sailor"

I was a sailor: who ventured across Caribbean seas,
And 'neath our cruel black flag, the Devil to please...
My hearty crew took a prized ship of the line so fair.
But ne’er so great a prize as a maid with golden hair!
Her heart lusty and fierce; she became my first mate,
A governor's daughter: seeking a more perilous fate.
She loved me like a storm and we sailed together oft,
And it is her hand, which hoists the Jolly Roger aloft!
