A Birthday
Tomorrow hasn’t happened
Officially, neither did yesterday
In my book, yesterday was the first day of my life.
Today was the second
And tomorrow will be the third
My life began
When my heart beat for the first time
My heart had never beaten
Until yesterday
So officially, yesterday was my first day of life.
I am now two days old
But the problem is
There was a virus, yesterday’s files were lost
So technically, it never happened
So does that leave me dead or alive?
Does it matter?
Doesn’t in my book.
Because I was born yesterday
I don’t care if I was the only person who was there
I don’t care if I was the only person on Earth
Yesterday my heart beat
And I breathed
And I became officially alive
Even though officially,
I must not exist
Since I was born on a day that never happened
Officially, neither did yesterday
In my book, yesterday was the first day of my life.
Today was the second
And tomorrow will be the third
My life began
When my heart beat for the first time
My heart had never beaten
Until yesterday
So officially, yesterday was my first day of life.
