Azure
The sky had clouds scattered throughout,
I see an exquisite trace of yellow
Where the sun was attempting to shine again
Luminous, pale, blue sky
The kind of sight you are privy to only when the worst of the storm has passed
When you think it too turbulent to fight
You hunker down and succumb to the wrath
No expectations of light in the distance
An eternity goes by
Winds, rain, hail go with it
Peaking through the curtains
Drawn to the window by blind faith
Raising my gaze up to the universe
Safety, comfort and joy
An unfamiliar warmth
Sensing the tempest was not coming back
I let my guard down slightly
Glancing back into the brilliant topaz
That was above our world
My fears diminished
There was no worry that another squall would come
I no longer would dwell on what could be
Your eyes were that sky
Not on a perfect day,
but after a merciless rainfall
Beautiful despite what had just been endured
Clear and pleasant,
Everything my soul required to survive
I see an exquisite trace of yellow
Where the sun was attempting to shine again
Luminous, pale, blue sky
The kind of sight you are privy to only when the worst of the storm has passed
When you think it too turbulent to fight
You hunker down and succumb to the wrath
No expectations of light in the distance
An eternity goes by
Winds, rain, hail go with it
Peaking through the curtains
Drawn to the window by blind faith
Raising my gaze up to the universe
Safety, comfort and joy
An unfamiliar warmth
Sensing the tempest was not coming back
I let my guard down slightly
Glancing back into the brilliant topaz
That was above our world
My fears diminished
There was no worry that another squall would come
I no longer would dwell on what could be
Your eyes were that sky
Not on a perfect day,
but after a merciless rainfall
Beautiful despite what had just been endured
Clear and pleasant,
Everything my soul required to survive
