Clemency
Derangement questions do conspire
Uncertainty about housing
The fragile nature of income
And dread of a returned street life
But she's the one to comfort me
An angel here, right by my side
She tells me all will be resolved
Heaven, or Hell, will have to wait
She then strokes my graying hair
Departs with a gentle smile
I take some comfort in her words
And rest assured I have a while.
