Dreamer
He prefers the deepest sleep
Not the nightmares of reality
Just vivid dreams when darkness calls
Remembrance of his better days
He sees her, that sweet aura
Feels her gentle touch in times of need
He recalls that she would comfort him
But he stirs, and then awakes
So he feels the cold winds blow
And rises slowly to his knees
The street life is not for him
Huddled against the prolonged freeze.
Not the nightmares of reality
Just vivid dreams when darkness calls
Remembrance of his better days
He sees her, that sweet aura
Feels her gentle touch in times of need
He recalls that she would comfort him
But he stirs, and then awakes
So he feels the cold winds blow
And rises slowly to his knees
The street life is not for him
Huddled against the prolonged freeze.

You're quite right, JusTim. I was homeless for about a year. Now I've got an apartment, finally. Thank you. Peace to you too!

Thank you for the kind comment, H.R. Wish there was more I could do about the prevailing darkness of those without a home. There are so many here near where I live, on the poorer side of town.

Thank you Mysteria. It is sad, but it's a problem that could be addressed with low cost housing. Hard to find in the L.A. area.

That's why I always wonder about people helping other countries. We have poverty right in the states. Millions of homeless people, children. It's very sad how our world is. Seems cruel in my opinion...xo

A stirring write, crowfly. The homeless population is one that makes my heart weep. It’s one group whose problem (of having no where to live) could be fixed. Sad that society snubs the ones who are most in need.

I quite agree, Eerie. Steps could be taken for affordable housing near where I live, but, so far, the homeless are generally ignored. Meanwhile, the rich get richer. Thank you!
