A Sailor's Tragedy.
The sun beamed down on the village below,
But yet no one seemed to know,
Near the shallows of the shore,
A man rocked back and forth-
Sobbing like none before.
In his arms there a body was,
For he: the only one to know the cause,
For this woman he seemed to know-
As his conduct seemed to relate,
What appeared to be her fate.
Thereafter this tragedy took place,
Haunted features marked upon his face,
The day which he could not forget-
Visions of her ghost often visited him,
And the light at the end of the tunnel dim.
But yet no one seemed to know,
Near the shallows of the shore,
A man rocked back and forth-
Sobbing like none before.
In his arms there a body was,
For he: the only one to know the cause,
For this woman he seemed to know-
As his conduct seemed to relate,
What appeared to be her fate.
Thereafter this tragedy took place,
Haunted features marked upon his face,
The day which he could not forget-
Visions of her ghost often visited him,
And the light at the end of the tunnel dim.
