Metal Existence
Glass eyes reflecting
the brilliance of others
robotic limbs mechanically moving through life.
A hollow tin heart
tics like a clock too tightly wound.
A being longing to join in
the dance of life
others are so joyously enjoying.
Metal parts that become unhinged
when people get too close.
Paper like emotions
shred at the rejection
of being different.
A soul darkened
by the trials of life.
I wish to shed this metal existence
become flesh and blood
join in the dance of life once again.

Raw and gritty, yet surreal like a well woven fantasy, all flowing together at the same time. I so much enjoyed it Crim. :)

I have a dark mind

This brings forth some great imagery. The ending is hopeful, though clings to the possibility of always living in the silver skin. The glass eyes are a window into a heartless soul trying to break free of an artificiial framework of the mind. As the song says, "Oz never did give nothin' to the Tin Man, that he didn't, didn't already have"
I relate this to the Silver Surfer and to the Tin Man. There's something terribly tragic about being locked inside a shell that seems more natural than reality and receiving a wind up heart to feel what seems impossible, while needing to be oiled just to break free of the chains that tears can bind us with...
I always thought the Wizard of Oz would have been a great movie to remake into a dark comedy with Johnny Depp as the Tin Man, Jim Carry as the Scarecrow, Jack Black as the Lion and Christina Ricci as Dorothy. Something like that would have to have a humorous edge, but always with a sorrow that no laughter can heal.
Toto could be played by the dog from The Mask, with the mask on... There is something symbolic about a bipolar dog in a dark comedy... I know, I'm kinda weird, but that's why I have two books of poetry, Passion & Pain is all about my dark side.
