Out of Body

I now regard my restless sleep
with suspicious contemplation.
While sprawled delicately on my bed
I knew of my condition.
When releasing my cognition
to my dreams
I lost all recognition.

Aware! I reiterate, alert and alive.
Yet still the bed ensnared me.
The darkness enveloped me
when irrational thoughts
wandered aimlessly.
Like soft muck the sheets
spread silently and
compressed my fragile body.

On intervals I tried to arise,
but arousal ended in relapse.
Though shuttered in
my motionless room
I could sense the people pass.
More focused was I
on my sinister dream
in which I groped for a view
I could not grasp.

Warily I reflect upon
these matters of today.
The enticing bed
that I now dread
caused me to waste away.
