The Benefits of Dreams

Finding you sprawled
across patterned sheets
the blankets tossed
leaving you available
to my observance

These benefits
of opposing hours
catching you at rest
seeing white cotton
damp between bare legs

The restlessness
of a private dream;
feeling him throb
like the early days
held in your mouth
or maybe
in the company
of a peer who tasted you
one drunken night

I leave you in this heaven
uninterrupted
knowing that when you wake
you will find me
stirred by my own visions
reaching to plug me
into those wet inspirations.
