i love birds, my feathered friends
this morning i felt sad, my inner world was making me sink
and my mind was like a deflated balloon aching to feel alive
sinking sinking i felt sad and beaten down
i stepped onto the landing treading downstairs with my bored feet
i needed a cup of tea
i needed to wake up from sleepy somber land
and escape from a dazey dream
before i made my cup of tea i opened the patio door
eyes eagerly seeking a bird or two
they were sitting safely on the trees thin fingers
tweeting sweetly, singing songs from their tender soul
making music of their own, sounds of a gentle stream
whispering into the air with a effortless ease
soft like pretty people with sweet souls
feathered friends singing kindness into the sky
at one with the tree's, at home in the sky
the birds i glimpsed this morning
stirred something nice from within
their prettiness pleased the eye
their flying soothed a little of my mind
and i caught myself
feeling grateful for the beautiful birds in the sky
and my mind was like a deflated balloon aching to feel alive
sinking sinking i felt sad and beaten down
i stepped onto the landing treading downstairs with my bored feet
i needed a cup of tea
i needed to wake up from sleepy somber land
and escape from a dazey dream
before i made my cup of tea i opened the patio door
eyes eagerly seeking a bird or two
they were sitting safely on the trees thin fingers
tweeting sweetly, singing songs from their tender soul
making music of their own, sounds of a gentle stream
whispering into the air with a effortless ease
soft like pretty people with sweet souls
feathered friends singing kindness into the sky
at one with the tree's, at home in the sky

feeling grateful for the beautiful birds in the sky
