Deep as Your Eyes

Tides in the sky; a lonely river song:
A familiar scent, a remembered voice
With winter sighing by a shallow sea
I am sculpting a sweet dream,
I will send with the swans.
And their ghosts will bury me
In a slumber deep as your eyes.
Do you see the same stars that I see?

The moon is quiet, a tear from the sky.
I will take it to the gates of morning
And that is where I’ll die.
And in the light that rises
They will bury me with pearl.
I will hear the crows weep
In a slumber deep as your eyes.

It would be safe to call your heartless,
But I know that is a lie.
I won’t ask if you sleep sound,
Only of the home you’ve found.
Is it safe to think that I do not cry?
Now my poor heart says
The dark is drawing nigh.
Do you see the same stars that I see?

Flame and frost, a lonely river song
With the leaves falling all around.
The world is turning, but our hearts are still.
Hear the night in an angel’s wings.
See the song played upon the strings
In a slumber as deep as your eyes.
