How do you describe another human being?
An ordinary woman?
housewife and
mother
who inspires you,
moves you
spiritually
and has a soul
so beautiful and free
that you feel you are
entrusted
duty-bound
to deliver
a sacred task
to watch over
protect
and care
for her.
Yet she loves another
and cannot be mine.

Thank you, I'm truly flattered by your words. She is special and I know our friendship will endure even if that worst of all things 'unrequited love' still sits like a spectre at the feast above my head unseen to all but me.

Thank you for your supportive words Liah; it is still something we say in texts when saying goodnight when we can't be together; 'see you in my dreams' so maybe she still does.

Friendship is the basis for any long term relationship if it's going to stand the test of time. Without that love, trust and companionship we are not human. The human 'condition' is what gives us that edge over the animal kingdom. All too often we fail as witnessed by the strife we see all around in our world today. Thank your God(s) for our poets :-)
