My lighter grew legs
It's no where in sight
I put it right here
I did, last night!
I wasn't drunk
I remember it clearly
and I need it now
I need it so dearly.
I looked on the counter
I looked by the bowl
I looked under the couch
in the closet
ontop and inside the fridge
Just where would it go?
My lighter grew legs
It had to of so
Do you want to find out
how i know?
Look here in my pocket.
I didn't put it there.
I told you it grew legs.
It crawled right in there
I swear!

nice job misty.
If i may throw in my two cents.
the rhyming structure you have in the first and second works well it falls into place while being read.
When i got to the third i had to stop after the third line and go back to the start of the stanza and read it again as you changed the structure.
your prerogative i know :)
i just feel that for the sake of adding two lines or removing two lines it would keep a much better time/flow.
"It had to of so" maybe you could replace that line.
anyway, an enjoyable read Misty.

such a silly piece, I really couldn't help but smile remembering self induced lighter disappearances. Sometimes it really does just walk it's way on out... sometimes never to be seen again :P

Can relate to this! I was a smoker and my lighter always disapearred. Love how you named your poem, perfect. Made me think back, should have taken stock out on those son of a bitches.
