City Girl
City Girl
Her eyes joust harder than a man’s
But have seen spiritual massacres
In the wasteland of Waldorf Astoria
Where sadness looms like a skyscraper
Whose only substance is glass and steel
In which a smile becomes undertow
To drag the soul deeper
But her lips only kiss from love
And she learned what happens when disrobed
Isn’t nearly as important as how you act clothed
Her eyes joust harder than a man’s
But have seen spiritual massacres
In the wasteland of Waldorf Astoria
Where sadness looms like a skyscraper
Whose only substance is glass and steel
In which a smile becomes undertow
To drag the soul deeper
But her lips only kiss from love
And she learned what happens when disrobed
Isn’t nearly as important as how you act clothed
