Acquiesce

Grey, blue eyes sleep behind pale lids closed
Lips soft and inviting in a pout composed
Hair tousled and spread across my bed
We're cuddling close, you and I, head to head
Breathe in breathe out sharing the same air
I cannot believe that soon you won't be there
My arms encircle, embrace you tightly
Your heart fluttering against my chest lightly
My own pounding loudly uncontrollable
Thoughts in my mind of losing you inconsolable
A good friend over time you have become to me
Now a journey you tell me of self - discovery
If that voyage flounders on the rocks of lust
Know this; in me you have a soulmate to trust
Somewhere for support, to run and to hide
Always there for you to hold, to be by your side
No jurisdiction have I, no right to rant and rail
I wish you godspeed and a fair wind in your sail
My love for you will not change or be pulled apart
I accept it is destined for an affair of the heart
Our souls still entwined as star-crossed lovers are
Your happiness still paramount if only from afar

Author's Note
That moment, when you're on a mobile and you look up and realise you're about to be hit by a truck? I got that stomach churning, tyre burning, lustful yearning a nano-second before I fell in love.
