Visions Linger

The visions linger: trembling flanks prepare
For a surrender; let the armistice
Pass by unnoticed; a submissive miss
Like me, wants more for battlescapes so bare;
Once readied for this warfare; would he spare
Me from this much-sought but quite painful bliss?
Or I am destined for the wanted kiss
Of firmer discipline; I do not care
For matters that may be outside my ken;
Not looking back, I don't see the effect
I have on others gathered; each finger
Grip desks expectantly; knowing that, when
The cane descends. I'll cry out and reflect;
Later, in the mirrors, visions linger.
