Ghost Disease
A rare illness, with a total of 200 documented sufferers. The cause is currently unknown, and it seems to be something that patients get within the first few months of being born. Outward symptoms appear around the age of 8, but if a doctor knows what they’re looking for, it can be detected as soon as it first infects a child.
Symptoms include: irises, hair, and/or skin slowly changing color (usually to an unusual if not outright unnatural one), non-permanent and non-painful (patients report a feeling as if the affected area has fallen asleep) “detachment” of the limbs or head with no apparent wound (it cannot be performed at will and it usually doesn’t affect the same area twice in a row; once the affected area is “reattached,” it stays attached until the next time the symptom appears there), patients suddenly going mute, deaf, and/or blind for a short period of time (usually between a week or two, and if the patient’s irises have changed color, they will revert to their natural state when going blind), and more.
