Familiar Agony
We get stuck in patterns
Making choices out of habit
Knowing the unpleasant outcome
Because we have visited this place before
The same kind of guy
The same kind of girl
The same hopes for the future
Crushed under the weight of expectation
Why do we endure such insanity?
Repeating the mistakes of the past over and over again?
Choosing people who tear us down
And eat away at our ego like parasites
So he’s not her “type”
She’s not the same woman she once was
Maybe that’s what she needs
Maybe he’s the one to help her break the cycle
Life begins at the edge of our comfort zone
But when you really think about it
Was that place really comfortable?
Or just familiar agony?
She wants to give him a chance
But she’s afraid of being naive
She feels jaded at the idea of love
For so many attempts have been a pipe dream
She tells herself to let actions speak the truth
To hold back until there’s proof
That what he says is real
She has hope, but is she fooling herself?
Making choices out of habit
