Words like Splinters
Do you have a tree in your backyard? Where you go and pick out the perfect fight. I thought when I let my guard down you did the same. Now I see I was completely wrong, seems like you’re just dragging me along. Dirt on my face and my finger nails dragged on everything. What a shame. I’m done playing your little game. Now it’s my turn, I’m going to make you burn. Your whole world is going to collapse and when everything is torn to pieces and in flames, I’m going to look you directly into your eyes. Explain that you broke my heart little by little, but I like to put on a show and make it unforgettable. Don’t ask for mercy, you made me a controversy with myself. I fought every time you yelled and said something mean. My dark thoughts about you were drowned by the nice part inside me. I don’t believe in love, but I believed in you. You felt like summer when it was winter, and I lost my smile. You reconstructed my lips and made my face find its color. Maybe this partnership had fine print. After all is said and done, the last thing you’re going to see is my footprint as I walk away from your life eternally.
