ARMS RACE
Arms race
At the border
To locate and protect each other
Hold on to mother and father
Sister and brother
Tight
Arms race
At the border
Tonight
Arms race
In the nation
Known for its deforestation
To hold on to trees
And core beliefs
Tight
Arms race
In Brazil
Tonight
Arms race
In the kingdom
To water hidden desert rose
Open minds, shutter windows
Close the door behind you
Tight
Arms race
In Saudi Arabia
Tonight
Arms race
In places of prayer
Bringing many palms together
While Charlton Heston's fingers
Hold on
Tight
Arms race
In America
Tonight
At the border
To locate and protect each other
Hold on to mother and father
Sister and brother
Tight
Arms race
At the border
Tonight
Arms race
In the nation
Known for its deforestation
To hold on to trees
And core beliefs
Tight
Arms race

Tonight
Arms race
In the kingdom
To water hidden desert rose
Open minds, shutter windows
Close the door behind you
Tight
Arms race
In Saudi Arabia
Tonight
Arms race
In places of prayer
Bringing many palms together
While Charlton Heston's fingers
Hold on
Tight
Arms race
In America
Tonight

This touches so close that the heart struggles to beat at the thought.

Thank you cold_fusion. Sometimes poetry is the only communication that works for me. This is one of those times.

This resonates loudly, We, in the UK, struggle with your fifth amendment. Guns and the glory of guns.

I think you mean the second, but heard! If I weren't at works, engaged in many activities, this might want to become a never-ending poem... arms race everywhere... to hold each other

I wanted to write an anti-war poem, and it got me on the pun. Then it just begged to be written and I held on to the idea for a little bit. I think were this generalized to be less topical-in-the-moment (i.e. dated), it could be a fun (not fun?) children's book.

It's an Arms Race
in Australia
To stop the people who need the most help and protection trying to get away from a war torn country to come to my peaceful country with plenty of land and work.
