Wresting another Radler down
I could have watched "Chloe" on Netflix
but committed to the second drink
not without hesitation

Alcohol makes me nervous
it is generally banned from my home
and I usually drive now

I used it as a crutch
to relate to others
to ease my nerves

I fell in love with a heavy drinker
and scathed through with a habit
not an addiction

there is a distinction

I could annihilate a case come Saturday night
if the vibe was right and the players were playing

But the buzz has faded
long ago

I feel no high in it
because I've managed
and it isn't sex.
