Soul Searching
She walks on down the hall
And through the doors
Of her own perception
A crowd of beetles
Stand and stare
At Sgt. Tussaud's wax reception
As pale lyrics play
Soft unusual intentions
A wisp of thought is caught
Am I creator or invention
She believes it could be
Either, both or something else
And then decides it's difficult
When looking through
The clouds of inner self
She sees the veil of time pass by
Against the past
It's sheer as lace
Where memories
Are almost touched
And can not be erased
The veil before what is to come
Is thick as brick and mortar
With each step to future lifetimes
Sightless destinies to ponder
A memory then comes to mind
From time when yellowed page
was white
A poem of old, born in her youth
If she can just remember write
*we've gone around the world
in a glass bottom boat
the sky is so high
and yet we float and float
*the captain turns around to
preach a bit about the tide
he forgets the words he says
and doesn't care that he has lied
It's quite a curious query
For her to question what it means
She seems prolonged
In search of secrets
Instead of chasing rabbit dreams
So devastating darkened halls
She glides through
As an apparition
In the attempt to contemplate
The status of her own condition
The labyrinth within her soul
Holds shattered, stumbling
Dead end roads
Mountains cold and valleys deep
And yet, still no answers
That she seeks
Calling out uncertainties
Into the fading foggy air
Capitulation overwhelms
Her words
Is there anybody there?
Thump thump, a heartbeat
Answers back
Softly first, then louder
Pounding
She's found a door
Where comes the sound
It's resonance resounding
Who knocks upon my blackened door
Who dares tread near my sanctuary
"I AM" the answer, spoke in truth
Slaps the face of her uncertainty
A fragile house of cards disturbed
She crumbles, falling to the floor
Then begs the guest to come inside
Where she now lays, nearby the door
Then flooding light both pure and bright
Send shadow's darkness back to night
And with cautious, calming care
Lifts her up and dries her tears
Forgive me Lord, for I was lost
She shudders from her sorrow
I thought today was yesterday
And I could not find tomorrow
An intimate embrace of peace
Pervades throughout her being
To reinforce the love and Grace
Which proceeds her to believing
Thank you Lord, for finding me
Inside my hours of despair
I think myself was blinding me
Seeing You where always there
So like a child, she curls and clings
To safety's net from which she swings
Bathed in the kiss from wind's caught breath
With mended wings, she flies from death
Up to the heavens above the skies
Where stars align beyond our view
She's free to be and sanctified
Inside love's sacrifice and truth
And through the doors
Of her own perception
A crowd of beetles
Stand and stare
