An Unfortunate Misunderstanding.

I turned the corner
And it struck me
The way the green and white
Tennis court,
The net,
The layers of
Chain link fence
And the orange construction fence
On the lawn beyond
Made a wonderful abstract design.

I took a picture

The girls, who were playing tennis.
Thought I was taking a picture of them.
They stared at me,
Hands on hips
Through their dark glasses
As I drove away.

They must have thought I was
Some sort of creep.
I am an artist.
I suppose they were partly right.
Still there is a lot more to life
Than young girls in short dresses.
