red wolves poised in glowing
rows outside my windows,

crow caws, violent flaps
within the ponds -

the pavememt moans.


an off-white wall,
her faded frame, a
gaunt ghost pinned,

the third drawer down has medicine;

and i bet the devil my head
before bed--both heads.

time slows when she comes in,
cavernous psalms swing from her lips -

the floorboard moans.


drooling tremors, emptied space -
we shriek in prose, breathing rhymeless
in archaic wombs -

the slow death moans.
