Triggers
When you are travelling
Through unknown territory
You must watch out
Don't trigger a tripwire
They can hide anywhere
Be almost anything
Quiet and peaceful
Destruction
At the slightest touch
The trigger trips alive
That bitch will take your head
Or tear you limb from limb
At best it won't kill you
But you'll always be disfigured
And broken in places
I just can't understand
How there are so many
In the world killing babies
And in my home killing me

You do a fantastic job of drawing parallels between marriage and war; definitely can feel that way at times (being divorced, I would know). You describe the anxieties of walking on eggshells with the person you’re supposed to trust with clarity and fantastic metaphors. Even though this reads like quick, top-of-the-head musings, there’s a serious depth to it, almost unrealized
