I Broke My Own Heart Loving You
My head says I don't want you
My heart says I miss you
My feet keep on walking
Hoping distance will stop
These yearnings that plague me
Only once every few weeks
My surroundings tell me
I'm making progress
But none of it feels like home
Home was snuggling up
To you and our daughter
After a long day
Of painful mediocrity
This new flame gets me
In a way you never did
But somewhere inside me
I'm still burning for you
Longer and deeper
Than anyone will ever spark me
You are safe haven
For the inner child
That needs someone
To hold her hand
He is a refuge
For a wild vagabond
That wants someone
To run free with her
I know I'll always love you
Though we clash
Like fire and ice
I miss you
Your long strong arms
That used to make me
Feel so safe
I'm sorry
My heart says I miss you
My feet keep on walking
Hoping distance will stop
These yearnings that plague me
Only once every few weeks
My surroundings tell me
I'm making progress
But none of it feels like home
Home was snuggling up
To you and our daughter
After a long day
Of painful mediocrity
This new flame gets me
In a way you never did
But somewhere inside me
I'm still burning for you
Longer and deeper
Than anyone will ever spark me
You are safe haven
For the inner child
That needs someone
To hold her hand
He is a refuge
For a wild vagabond
That wants someone
To run free with her
I know I'll always love you
Though we clash
Like fire and ice
I miss you
Your long strong arms
That used to make me
Feel so safe
I'm sorry
