a vacuum of delights

i would stand in the rain and shiver
for the privilege to await your permission to move
i would kneel in the dark
and view time as an honor
as minutes grew fatter
and anticipation burst into flames
your absence is my present
wrapped in a bow of no’s

how i nibble on vacant air
with the fading scent of your words past
imagining soft winds in your hair
and bright suns as equal to the darkness
that envelopes all
in the tiny cell i inhabit

your words are a shrine
to kneel before
and dedicate time
with invented wishes
inviting your commands
