From Thought to Smile
Strange to think
I'd never seen your soul before
Before I saw for the first time
Forthright
Mysterious
Warm and wise
You work so hard to disguise
So much heaven in your eyes
A heart-shaped world dipped in honey
A quiet fire within the forest
Burning and breathing in you
The clock has burned the years away
And I still think thoughts I shouldn't say...
You can't exist, I wouldn't think
Silver screens birthed the idea of you
Marble curves
Calm consideration
Stark perception
Do the math
Such traits don't often add up on earth
Yet here is the calm, stark marble
Burning and breathing before me
Commanding hearts and minds
Commanding mine
And to me, you have been
A vulnerable moment
A smile of thanks
An open eye
An honest word
A guide
and a dream
and I have consumed it all like candy
I don't often get to touch my dreams
let alone obtain them
You have endured your own path,
wading through tears and fears,
still gathering hopes and dreams
in loving arms
Your smiles and peaceful skies
suit you well
and frame your flame all the better
You have more than earned
your smiles and skies
and I smile
for your smiles
with awe
Though I look the part, I am no fool
I know this world
and the worlds between us
and seek no return touch
to call my own
But the hope and dream
of these thoughts,
That they may bring one more smile
to your eyes...
That is a dream I gladly catch
and cradle
The clock will burn the years away
But now my thoughts have had their say...
Strange to think
I'd never seen your soul before
And yet, I dreamed your burning beauty
all the time
