Faking it
These faces surrounding me
Their lips pulled taught
Spewing hate
Like acid
About people
Who they once considered friends
But who am I to pick and choose?
Everyday I hope
Those who I gave my heart to
Who I trusted like family
Will return
But they never do
They don’t care about me
They don’t care if my heart breaks
Every night
If tears flood my vision
During every intermission
If my voice gets taught
Every time my thoughts
Get tangled and caught
So I fake it
For the people
Who are still here
To keep me company
But if they knew
The real me
My hidden truths
They’d spew acid
About me too
Their lips pulled taught
Spewing hate
Like acid
About people
Who they once considered friends
But who am I to pick and choose?
Everyday I hope
Those who I gave my heart to
Who I trusted like family
Will return
But they never do
They don’t care about me
They don’t care if my heart breaks
Every night
If tears flood my vision
During every intermission
If my voice gets taught
Every time my thoughts
Get tangled and caught
So I fake it
For the people
Who are still here
To keep me company
But if they knew
The real me
My hidden truths
They’d spew acid
About me too
